Rick Kirkman, the artist of Baby Blues, won an award from the National Cartoonists Society in 1997. He wanted to share the award with the strip's writer, Jerry Scott, who also provides help with the art; therefore, Jerry is a collaborator in many senses. Baby Blues can be hysterically funny and has attracted a wide following in its short life. Much of the humor is visual, but Scott's dialog is essential. Every year Baby Blues is a potential candidate for this pretigious cartoonists award. |
