Is Baby Blues going to be on TV?

Q: How did Baby Blues get started?
A: The short answer about how all this came about is that Jerry and I have been friends for about sixteen years. A few years ago we decided to do a comic strip together (Jerry already was the writer/artist for the strip Nancy). About that time my wife gave birth to our second child, a child we were (and maybe still are) convinced was an alien. She didn't sleep, didn't eat, but still grew, developed and burned up energy just like any normal child. This was taking a visible toll on my wife and I, and Jerry, being the astute observer that he is, thought it was pretty funny. Obviously, he had no children at the time. After he convinced me it was funny we set out to create what is now Baby Blues.

Q: Will Zoe age?
A: Yes, she will continue to age. She ages very slowly, though. Since the day Zoe was born two years and three months ago (our time) she has aged only nine or ten months in the strip. There is so much that goes on in the lives of new parents and babies that to try to keep up in real time would cause us to miss out on much of it. What we try to provide are little snapshots of that time, but there are just too many to try to squeeze into seven installments a week.

Q: Is Baby Blues going to be on TV?
We're in production on a prime-time animated TV series based on the comic strip. It will be airing in the Fall of next year. Right now we have a series committment for 13 shows, including a Christmas special. We've just seen the rough cut of the special, and we think it's going to be a lot of fun. As for the voices, Darryl is Mike O'Malley (for those ESPN fans, he's "the Rick") Wanda is played by Julia Sweeney formerly of SNL. Nicole Sullivan (Mad TV) plays a teenage
babysitter added for the series. The show has been fleshed out with a full neighborhood, including next door neighbors that figure in a lot of the action. Joel Murray (Dharma & Greg) plays one of the neighbors and Arabella Fields (Godzilla) plays his wife. Deidrich Bader (The Drew Carey Show) plays one of Darryl's co-workers. Kath Soucie (Rugrats) plays two of their children. E.G. Daly (Rugrats) plays the voice of Zoe. Some of our guest voices include Steven Weber (Wings, The Shining), Dan Cortese (Veronica's Closet) and Bob Costas.
